American Program Bureau is sharing Dr. Nick Morgan’s “The Little Trick That Will Make Your Audiences Trust You” in this week’s featured blog post.
Dr. Nick Morgan recently came across a study in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin that offered an easy way to increase your connection with an audience. Dr. Morgan states that audiences want to know they can trust their speakers and find them credible, and explains how both verbal and non-verbal components come into play with this.
The study found that “a neutral face with a slightly upturned mouth and eyebrows makes people look more trustworthy.” Dr. Morgan notes that an individual doesn’t consciously control their evaluation of other people’s trustworthiness—the unconscious mind does. With that in mind, he offers more insight in his full blog post on the topic.
